Welcome Home to Franklin, Tennessee!

Town of Hidden Gems and Public Stars

There’s a reason why spotting Tim McGraw at the gas station, Chris Stapleton grabbing coffee, or Justin Timberlake picking up groceries feels almost normal in Franklin, Tennessee—you’re in a town that effortlessly blends star power with small-town charm. While many places strive to preserve the past while embracing the present, Franklin has mastered it. They have created a picturesque fusion of Antebellum, Victorian, and Art Deco architecture, safe streets, friendly neighbors, and bustling shops. This thriving town is a hub of vibrant retail, dining, and entertainment—wrapped in a warm, welcoming vibe.

It would take an entire book to truly capture modern-day Franklin. Thankfully, lifelong resident Abby Steiner, owner of a cozy B&B on historic 4th Avenue, has shared some of her favorite hidden gems for us to explore. Let’s start with a stroll down Main Street!

“I love how walkable Franklin is,” Abby says. “Every shop feels welcoming, but The Green Room and Philanthropy are standout favorites.” The Green Room, owned by rockstar Phil Joel and his wife Heather, offers an eclectic mix of fair trade and sustainable goods, plus the Blind Tiger Lounge—a vinyl-lover’s paradise complete with turntables. Meanwhile, Philanthropy merges boutique retail with a Christ-inspired mission, dedicating proceeds to meaningful causes and reserving space for a prayer room where patrons can reflect and recharge.

Of course, shopping isn’t all Franklin has to offer—you need to eat and drink, too! And the culinary options here are second to none. Abby’s first pick is Red Pony on Main. “It’s an incredible spot with outstanding food and a local vibe. My husband and I met some of our best friends there,” she shares. Other top picks include Gray’s on Main, a bar housed in a beautifully restored pharmacy with a second-floor view of Main Street, and Amendment 18, a speakeasy with a hidden back-alley entrance. For dining, Abby recommends 55 South for Cajun cuisine, Puckett’s for classic country cooking and live music, and O’ Be Joyful for its stunning brick bar and irresistible burgers. “The jalapeño burger with tater tots is my favorite,” she confesses with a grin.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking Franklin’s treasures end at Main Street. Just a short walk away, you’ll find The Factory, a reimagined destination packed with hidden gems. The Factory is home to some beloved Nashville-based favorites like Hattie B’s, Edley’s Bar-B-Que, and Otaku Ramen, as well as unique finds like The Find, a family-friendly vintage boutique brimming with one-of-a-kind pieces. The Factory also houses Studio Tenn, a nonprofit theater company renowned for its innovative takes on classic plays, and Abby’s top pick for sweet indulgence: Five Daughters Bakery. “Everyone needs to try their donuts—they’re unforgettable!” she exclaims.

As Abby perfectly sums it up, Franklin isn’t just a town; it’s an experience. With its rich history, vibrant culture, and neighborly spirit, Franklin offers something for everyone. So, come explore this all-star town with a down-home soul—you might just fall in love.
